Who we need

Reporting to the Director, Information Security and IT Operations we are hiring a Release & Change Manager (ITIL) to establish and lead a structured release and change management function across our technology environment. In this newly created role, you will coordinate the planning, governance, and execution of releases across internal engineering teams and external delivery partners, ensuring changes are introduced in a controlled, transparent, and well-communicated manner.

You will act as the central point of coordination for the release lifecycle, bringing together multiple workstreams to ensure dependencies, risks, approvals, and rollout plans are clearly understood before changes move into production. Working closely with technology leaders, vendors, and operational teams, you will help mature release management practices aligned with ITIL principles, improving predictability, accountability, and stability across our systems and platforms.

This job posting is for a newly created vacancy that is a full-time, hybrid role working three days per week on site in our Toronto office.

What’s in it for you:

Establish the release management function. This is a newly created role where you will help establish and mature release and change management practices across the organization. You will introduce structure, refine processes, and implement governance that improves how technology changes are planned, reviewed, and delivered.

Work at the centre of major initiatives. As we continue to expand our partner ecosystem and technology platforms, you will coordinate releases across internal teams and external partners, bringing visibility and structure to how new capabilities are introduced across loyalty, digital, and data platforms.

Influence across teams. This role sits at the intersection of technology delivery and operational governance. You will collaborate with architects, engineering teams, vendors, and leadership to coordinate releases, manage risk, and ensure changes move through the organization in a structured and well-communicated way.

As our new Release and Change Manager, you will:

  • Coordinate the release lifecycle. You will oversee the planning, scheduling, and execution of technology releases across internal teams and external vendors, ensuring releases are aligned with defined release calendars, operational priorities, and business needs.
  • Implement and mature ITIL-aligned release and change management practices. You will bring structure and governance to how changes are introduced across the organization, ensuring releases meet defined entry and exit criteria, approvals are obtained, and risks are identified and mitigated before changes move into production.
  • Manage cross-team dependencies. You will coordinate release activities across multiple workstreams including engineering, architecture, data, security, and partner teams, ensuring dependencies, sequencing, and integration points are clearly understood and managed.
  • Facilitate ITIL Change Advisory Board (CAB) processes. You will prepare release packages for review, coordinate change approvals, and ensure stakeholders have the information required to assess risk, impact, and rollback strategies prior to implementation.
  • Maintain release visibility across the organization. You will track active, upcoming, and completed releases and provide clear communication on release schedules, risks, and timelines to stakeholders, leadership, and operational teams.
  • Strengthen release and environment controls. You will ensure releases move through development, testing, and production environments in a controlled and well-documented manner aligned with ITIL change enablement practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement. You will identify opportunities to improve release predictability, reduce operational risk, and enhance coordination across teams through stronger governance, metrics, and reporting.

You bring:

  • The experience. You have experience in release management, change management, program delivery, or technology operations within complex technology environments. You understand how to coordinate enterprise releases across multiple teams and stakeholders, ensuring changes are planned, reviewed, and implemented in a controlled and well-governed manner.
  • The knowledge of ITIL practices. You have experience working with ITIL-aligned processes, particularly release management and change enablement. You are comfortable facilitating Change Advisory Board (CAB) discussions, managing approvals, and ensuring releases meet defined governance, risk, and documentation standards.
  • The coordination and organizational skills. You are highly organized and able to manage multiple concurrent initiatives. You can track dependencies, maintain release calendars, and ensure the right information, approvals, and documentation are in place before changes move forward.
  • The technical awareness. You have a foundational understanding of technology environments and are comfortable working with engineering and architecture teams. You understand concepts such as APIs, DevOps pipelines, environments, and system integrations, allowing you to coordinate releases effectively without needing to be a hands-on developer.
  • The communication and stakeholder management skills. You are confident working across teams and influencing stakeholders without direct authority. You can bring together internal teams and external partners, ensuring releases are communicated clearly and executed in alignment with agreed governance processes.
  • A continuous improvement mindset. You enjoy bringing structure to complex environments and strengthening release lifecycle governance. You are motivated to introduce stronger processes, reporting, and operational discipline that improve release predictability and reduce risk.
